On the Trail of… UFOs: Review

From the moment it starts, On the Trail of… UFOs continues at a rocket like pace, as Small Town Monster’s latest docuseries covers the wide and expansive topic of ufology.

Director and Creator of Small Town Monsters, Seth Breedlove, expertly weaves together the eclectic world of ufological topics such as the Betty and Barney Hill incident to Bob Lazar’s S4 claims together into an eight episode, four hour long journey, hosted by Shannon Legro of Into the Fray Radio. It’s huge, it’s ambitious and it’s just too good.

Legro’s narration gently guides the audience through the anomalous and sometimes terrifying world of UFOs, exposing a new audience to the phenomenon while also revealing new information that even so called experts can learn from. Luring us deeper into the mysteries of UFOs is a powerful score by Brandon Dalo (Minerva Monster, Terror in the Skies). It’s synthy vibe brings out the science fiction feel that most people think of when they picture UFOs, but can also feel horrifying especially paired with the incredible renderings of crafts and those inside.

More than anything, the strength of On the Trail of… UFOs is not its in depth descriptions of various crafts or lights seen in the sky, but its reliance on credible eye witness testimony and its emphasis on how a person can have their life impacted by sightings. In a field that has become mostly defined by internet battles, it is refreshing to see something focused on those touched by the phenomenon. It brings a feeling of hope that a series like this, combined with a wealth of well written books on the UFO phenomenon, and truthful and honest investigations into witness reports can, if not solve the mystery, inspire the person who will.

On the Trail of… UFOs is a must watch for those interested in anything Fortean and delivers on the high quality promise of the Small Town Monsters banner. You can preorder the series now at smalltownmonsters.com in both Blu Ray and DVD formats.
